Last Saturday I had the pleasure of sitting down and connecting with over 100 women at The Imperfect Mum Empowering Women Conference (#IMCONF) in Brisbane.
I enjoy having conferences like this on my calendar. It gives me something to look forward to and a boost for weeks after. I took Leni along with me as the Mr was away (Ari was with his grandparents) and she was a picture of perfect. She was peacefully just taking it all in. A hashtag was even created by the awesome Eden in her honour, #ilovelen.
The day, what a roller coaster of emotions. We cried together, laughed together and empowered one another to take action and control of our lives.
There were so many great speakers and fantastic takeaways from the event. Here are just a few of my favourite quotes.
We grow in peaks and troughs. We change and adapt. No matter what happened a year ago, a week ago, 5 minutes ago, that does not have to make you you. You can rise like a phoenix and not be bound to anything in your past.
I spend so much time trying to do everything that some days I achieve nothing. I need to value my energy more. Why spend it doing things that don’t make me or any of my loved ones happy. Why spend it on people who don’t value it.
This was my big take away. Jealousies are just dreams unfulfilled. You can be jealous of something and sit on your ass waiting for a silver platter service or you can channel that jealous energy into achieving your dream. I think it makes jealousy a beautiful thing.
One last thing.
It was a pleasure to watch Eden perform her poetry slam at the event. Watching her and chatting with her during the day reminded me to always be my authentic self. After meeting Eden in real life I am unsure there could be many others as raw and honest (by her own admission to a flaw) as she. Speaking with both Eden and Megan from Children’s Books Daily I felt like I wasn’t meeting them for the first time in person but we had spoken a hundred times before.
Thank you Kristy Vallely and The Imperfect Mum team for putting together such an empowering day.
Tickets to the Melbourne conference are still available and you can pick one up here.
