A FIFO worker is someone who works away from their home for a period of time before returning back to their family or home base for their time off.
A FIFO family is a family affected by a member with this type of employment.
A FIFO Wife… well you can see where I am going with this now.
Fly-in fly-out employment can include the military, emergency services, the aviation sector, medical, and of course, the mining sector. The styles of roster can vary greatly from an equal time roster (e.g. 2 weeks on/2 weeks off) to anything similar to months on for days off.
