Now my image filters are not that anti-aging awesome. I am not 65 years old, but my Mum is! Oops, should I have “aged” Mum online? Done now. She is only just 65, her birthday was last week, if that makes it any better.
Last weekend my Mum’s high school had their 50th year celebrations. This high school just happens to also be my high school, and my sister’s. Students of the 90’s and Noughty’s where few and far between at the celebrations (I think we nearly were it on the Sunday event) but we were really there supporting Mum, a Foundation Student.
Not only was Mum a foundation student when the school opened in 1964 but she now works there 50 years later! She is modest and doesn’t want anything made of it but that something really cool. Not many people can say they were walking into their high school during the year it opened and still walking in daily in its 50th year.
On a side note Mum has not always worked at the school. I just wanted to clear that up. It’s not like she has some sort of attachment issue. She just happens to be back there doing her thing.
It seems Mum was quite the sports woman in her formative years. Ball Games. House Captain. I’m not sure about this. Going by the sporting prowess of our family I am thinking she got in by lack of numbers!
It was a great day seeing Mum catch up with all her old school buddies. Many she hasn’t seen in years, some that are still very prominent in her life.
The major focus was for students of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, and rightly so. Although I did find year books for just about every year one was created, including my senior year.
So here you have it, old high school me…
Old school Green Day quote and a little reference to under age drinking. I’m all class!
Did you go to your high school reunion? Just the 10 year or more after that?
