If you are a regular reader of Calm to Conniption you would have heard me moaning about dealing with an unexpected week flying solo while the Mr was away. It was just a simply summed up, a shitty week. We had been going well so when the extra week was thrown in I wasn’t worried until I quickly discovered my limit is two weeks and definitely not three on the melt down meter.
In the midst of yet another banshee attack from me there was an unexpected knock at my door.
This post is brought to you by FreshFlowers.com.au
A flower delivery! The tell-tale ladybird peg on the card suggested they had been sent from the Mr. His go-to florist’s trademark.
A girlfriend had dropped in for a tea and a chat (yes, the banshee was at the end of her tether and strikes in front of whomever, whenever) so with flowers in hand I told her about the night before. The Mr had rung for his daily phone call but I had cut it off. Leni was crying, Ari was talking at his normal extreme volume and my husband was talking to me completely oblivious to the kids noise. Too many people were speaking to me at the one time. I couldn’t handle it and it would have become pretty obvious to him when I swiftly hung up.
Of course he had picked up my peeking stress levels and the flowers were from him.
I gave the fella props before I had even opened the card.
Except once I did I found…
From me to you – Ash
Flowers from Ash. A fellow FIFO (fly-in fly-out) mama and best friend who currently lives 1,000kms away. She was feeling my angst from that far away. I am not the best at keeping my issues under wraps.
Suddenly, these flowers meant more to me than anything else and there may have been a few tears of relief (perhaps mixed with a little embarrassment for not keeping it together).
She had my back.
She knew I was struggling.
She didn’t need to say anything.
She just sent me flowers.
