Halloween has proved to be far more exciting in our house than the lead up to Christmas, for the past two years.
I am not sure what it is. Age? Doing big kid scary stuff? An immense love of chocolate and lollies? But the lead up to Halloween is a very exciting time here.
Anticipation hit overload when a parcel arrived from Spotlight a few weeks ago. I had been told it was coming and knew what it was laden with so I considered the thought that it may not be in my best interest to open it while Ari (3) was around.
Never one to indulge in self-control, we opened the box together and from there he lost his mind. Thanks to Spotlight we had decorating for Halloween covered.
I then crushed his sweet dreams of gothing the place up by telling him nothing was to be opened until we returned from our holiday in just under a fortnight. Nasty!
Surprisingly, he was happy with that and nothing more was said.
Skip 10 days and I share this photo on Instagram…
If you panned out the photo you would actually see his 15 year old friend off to the side. If you were there on the farm at Nana and Pop’s place, 1600 kilometres from our home, you would hear his yell, “Georgia! It’s Halloween time when I get home!”
Squirrels! Kids store everything.
So here we are decorating the entry to our house on a sunny Wednesday ready for the 50 or so trick-or-treaters that will come knocking on October 31.
Seriously, we get that many! Last year I had to shut up shop and turn out the lights pretending no-one was home as the cupboard was completely bare.
Our walls are now covered in bats with a 3 metre garland overhead. Spiderwebs coat the hall table and any surface we could find. Spooky eyes peek through windows and Frank is in charge of the door.
A few scary sculls do not faze the fella.
We are good to go!
Except there seems to be quite the concern the lolly bags are not filled with chocolate!?
Halloween we are ready for you!
Thanks to Spotlight for decking us out in all our spooky best. With prices starting at $0.99 it makes decorating for Halloween simple and affordable. Everything spooky you see in these pics was kindly gifted from Spotlight (except for Ari’s BOO cape or any weird shadows or shapes, no need to highlight them to me). This is not a sponsored post.
Do you spook it up for Halloween?
