I may have gone a little quiet around these parts over the past few days but it is with good reason.
She is here!
Friday we welcomed our little lady into the world. Her fast arrival on her due date made our world busier, our family warmer and our hearts fuller.
I am overwhelmed with gratitude and love right now.
A massive ball of mush!
Ari has welcomed his little sister with random kisses and introduces himself as her big brother at least once a day. He is slightly concerned about the “poo” attached to her belly button and can’t understand why it is still there even after I change her nappy.
The Mr is notching up brownie points left, right and centre. He is owning the household like a boss. He even restocked the toilet paper in our ensuite!! Huge! He’s a good egg.
I am well. Sore and of course tired but compared to how I was after Ari’s arrival, I feel I can take on the world!
After a nap.
A long nap.
And some pain killers.
I wrote a couple of posts relating to names and breastfeeding while I was pregnant. So for a bit of follow-up…
Why this over-sharer keeps a baby name secret – We have named our beautiful girl Leni Anne.
Leni was a name we both loved and when she came out it just matched her round cherub face and dark hair.
Anne is a family name. It is the middle name of both of her Nanna’s plus the first name of her Great Nanna.
The hand pumping prior to her arrival was disappointing and hard work but ultimately I really do think it helped. I nearly passed it in after I accidentally squirted a syringe with about half a ml of colostrum on my bathroom floor. Half a ml doesn’t seem like much but that was three days of morning and night pumping! Oh the pain of it and subsequent melt down.
It was all worth it though and we are going great guns!
The midwives also said that taking the fenugreek prior to the birth would have helped in the birth itself and not just helping with the breastfeeding after. Powerful stuff!
As I allow myself to surrender to my families needs for a while I have quite a few guests popping onto the blog to share their stories, ideas, recipes and helpful smarts. I am super excited to introduce them to you, though some you may already know, and have them on Calm to Conniption.
I just may be up to my ears in dirty laundry, walking around my house with one boob out, delusional with sleeplessness but blissfully happy.
