When my husband is home we are very family orientated, which is brilliant for sure!
But I do find it hard to keep up my work from home routine. When it is happening it doesn’t worry me, I am happy embracing a type of slow life and presence. Always the day before he leaves the realisation of deadlines and looming projects that have been sidelined by other priorities has my anxiety levels nudged. I find myself beating myself up for it, even though at the time I enjoyed doing nothing much at all.
When I was flicking through my copy of 100 Days Happier by Domonique Bertolucci* this week, I come across this fitting pearl of wisdom.
My constant Rain Man beat up is completely unnecessary and seriously unproductive.
This week’s Mummy Soul Session might be a little self-absorbed but perhaps there are times that you do the same thing?
Firm, fair and moving on is far more productive than the sads.
Do you get stuck on beating yourself up?
Do you get all Rain Man at times? Just me?

Lucky for me, I have a short term memory so I beat myself up, forget about it and then move on. I always prefer to get back on track, it’s a much better option than going off the rails!
I think my lax short term memory makes my beat up worse because I play it over and over. Back on track is good!
I used to and in fairness I probably still do to a certain extent, but I’m totally working on enjoying every minute we have, life’s too short. xxx
For sure Sarah! x
Yep, I beat myself up all the time, so unproductive! (opps there I go again lol) xx
Very unproductive and if you are anything like me, you make it far worse in your head. xx
