If someone contacted you and said, “Hello! I want to send you a variety of 5 cheeses for you to sample”, what would you say?
I assumed most would be like me and jump on the opportunity. Send me all the cheeses!!
I was wrong. There are people out there that don’t love cheese!
What?! I know, I too am simply shocked!
Which then lead me to this question. After pouring yourself a crisp Sauvignon Blanc and sitting down in the sun, what does one do with the other hand on a Saturday afternoon?
Do these non-cheese eating folk hold their wine glass with two hands? Do they prefer a chip and dip? I am completely lost on this concept.
Mine will always be picking at cheese. Wine and cheese just make the perfect pairing don’t you think? Is it not tradition!
Now the fancy cheese section in my local supermarket can be a very imposing place. I usually stick with my normal picks so to try something new that I had seen and never actually purchased (yet) was very exciting.
So that wine and cheese night turned into a day when my cheese loving family turned up to sample the cargo that had arrived at my door.
We had Chevrette (goat), Gouda, Maasdam, Cumin and Smoked. The men seemed to like the smoked the best. Is that a manly thing to do? I think so.
My favourite (something I probably never would have thought to try) was the Frico Selection with Cumin seeds. Oh for the love of cheese! So good. I was given the heads up on its yum factor in the comments on my Instagram pic and it didn’t disappoint.
Frico Cheese has a strong heritage in cheese making dating back to 1898 and is still using original recipes. Now that is tradition right there!
Dutch cheese is very versatile when it comes to taste and can be used in a wide variety of dishes. Rico cheeses are made from fresh milk from Frisian cows which results in the finest, tasty and nutritious cheeses with the highest quality.
The tag #cheeseforweeks wasn’t an exaggeration. There was a lot in my delivery so I got to prolong my enjoyment. I took to grating some Gouda on my lunch of sourdough, roast chicken and spanish onion with a splash of balsamic. Under the grill for a bit of open melt action and hey presto I am feeling super gourmet!
You can find Frico cheese in supermarkets Australia wide and a range of recipes to expand from just a cheese plate (just! Ha!) on the Frico website.
Dankjewel Frico Cheese. Keep up your fine service to the cheese loving world.
Are you not a fan of cheese? What do you do with your spare hand on a Saturday afternoon?
