The time has come.
The Mr has headed back to his regularly scheduled program of two weeks away on the other side of the country.
This FIFO Mama has been up since 5:30am. The two children have had their breakfast and both are changed out of their pi’s ready for the day.
They have been bundled into the double pram for Mama’s regular 4km walk around the neighbourhood, followed by quiet time as Mama stretches out with some yoga poses to Mongolian chanting.
A nutritious home-made sugar-free morning tea has been devoured. No complaints are heard from the near threenager.
Now we are off to the library for story time and a play.
Perfect world, huh!
This is not mine.
If you were to peer through my window right now you will find me plugging away on my Mac with one hand while the other holds my feeding baby to my breast.
The near threenager is watching Monster Trucks, while firing a question every 20 seconds to which I answer who is currently on the track and if I think he is going to crash.
Slowly the toys make their way to the lounge room where they will stay for days, weeks even. Who cares.
My dishwasher is filled with clean dishes. My bench filled with dirty ones.
My hair is tied back in a messy pony tail with nearly a can of dry shampoo in it because I haven’t quite got the chance or energy to wash it.
This mothering body is starting fall apart. Dehydration and malnutrition because, well, I just can’t be bothered.*
And man I really want to take off my toe-nail polish!
I don’t care. Ari is happy. Leni is happy. This is how we roll.
I will get better at this. I will get the hang of solo parenting with two.
And until then, there will be many cups of tea and Disney DVD’s.
*Don’t worry, I have given myself a slap and now my freezer has been restocked with dinners from both my Mum and I as well as beautiful friends. Last night I wasn’t so sick and hopefully I can keep it up. Bloody double-edged sword! Not hungry but need to eat. Feel nauseous from not eating then too nauseous to eat.
What is the longest you have gone without washing your hair? Do you use dry shampoo?
