Another day is through. Another week spent.
Some weeks just progress like a broken record don’t they? Same routine, same flipping conversations.
Welcome to my week:
**
2 year-old (2yo): “Swimming today! See Lisa?!”
Lisa is his teacher.
Me: “No swimming is in a couple of days/tomorrow/next week”
2yo: “‘nother day”
Me: “Yeah another day mate”
**
2yo: “Trick or treat Mum. Yeah let’s do that!”
Me: “You Trick or Treat for Halloween buddy. Halloween is just once a year. It was fun wasn’t it. Just have to wait till next year”
2yo: “‘nother day M&M’s”
Me: “Yep next year.”
**
2yo: “Think Daddy is home”
Me: “Daddy will be home in another week mate. Just a bit longer. We will give him a call later and you can talk to him.”
2yo: “Daddy at work. Next week home”
**
2yo: “Play with Play Doh Mum, with Play Doh?”
Me: “Yes you can play with the Play Doh”
Get it out set it up on his little table and chairs.
Me: “Now remember, only on the table. Not on the lounge. Remember what happened last time”
2yo: “Not on the lownge, not on the lownge”
He walks out of the room with Play Doh in both hands…specifics.
**
Me: “Let’s go change that poo bum”
2yo: “No change your bum!”
Me: “You have to change it because you will get a rash and it’s stinky”
2yo: “No change your bum!”
Repeat until it drives me crazy and I just pick him up kicking.
**
Reading this now it is like I am crushing his little dreams a bit. We do find other stuff to do. But seriously these conversations were had EVERY. FREAKING. DAY. this week.
Except for Thursday, we went to swimming early on Thursday. No need for the conversation.
It is a little like living with Rain Man. “Not on the lownge. Not on the lownge.”
My little sweets. I do love this age. Discovering new things all the time, like Halloween.
I can’t wait for the excitement of Christmas. Just a trip to a shopping centre today had him flipping out over the decorations that were up.
Oh my! I am going to have to be ready for conversations about Christmas being over and that’s it for presents for most of January. Blurgh!
What conversations could you pre-record with your kids?
I am loving this 2-year-old stage even with all its “terrible-ness” but this post from From the Left Field scared the shit out of me for the FF’s!
Oh my gosh this is so cute!!! Funny little people aren’t they?? I’m excited for my boy to start speaking. So far all we get is “cheese” and “narna”. That’s it!
My favourite is just listening to him chat to himself when he is playing. Melts my heart!
I can totally relate to the “changing the nappy chase” – many metres are covered each day trying to chase Mr TT (age 2.5). That and a regular conversation that starts with me asking him “where are your pants?”. We also get a lot of “me too, me too!” as he wants to do everything his older sister does. I’m also loving how he is starting to sing along to songs. Unfortunately I think he has inherited my mediocre ability to hold a tune. It’s an exhausting age but damn cute at the same time!
The cuteness makes up for the rest! lol
